Shahid Sadoughi Airport in Yazd was established in 1969 on the southern edge of the central desert of Iran. Yazd Airport is currently the tenth airport in the country in terms of air and passenger traffic, and annually nearly 400,000 passengers use its services with about 3,500 passenger landings and takeoffs. Yazd Airport is the destination and origin of the cities of Tehran, Mashhad, Kish, Bandar Abbas and Ahvaz for domestic flights and the cities of Damascus, Jeddah, Najaf, Baghdad and Medina for international flights. Passenger transportation on these routes is carried out by about 10 domestic and foreign airlines. The airlines that operate at this airport are Ata, Iran Air, Taban, Naft, Iran Air Tour and Kish Air.
